Mrs. Connie Spears has served as a Madison City Schools board member since 2009 and recently retired after 10 years of dedicated volunteer service. Mrs. Spears has a storied history of devotion to Madison City Schools, having served on the Instructional Committee, the Capital Planning and Finance Committee, and was the legislative liaison for the district. At the state level, Mrs. Spears was named as the District 9 Director with the Alabama Association of School Boards Board of Directors. Mrs. Spears had been actively involved in the association, having served as the AASB Advocacy co-chair and had earned Master School Board Member status in AASB's academy with 280 training hours. In 2015 and 2019, Mrs. Spears was recognized for outstanding professional achievement and advocacy on behalf of public schools students in Alabama by the Alabama House of Representatives.
In her 10 years as a board member, she approved and advocated for funds to significantly renovate Bob Jones and currently serves as the co-chair of the Madison Forward Committee. She lives in Madison with her husband Richard; both of her sons are graduates of Madison City Schools.
