26-27 Course Selection

Rising 10th-12th Students:

  1. Complete your Course Selection Form (linked above). This form can be found in the BJHS Registration Packet, which is distributed to students at the outset of course selection.
  2. Submit your course requests in PowerSchool by following these instructions. More details can be found by clicking here. Course requests can be revised up until April 17th, when registration closes for upperclassmen. 
  3. Return your completed course selection form (along with any of the optional applications/forms below) to the Counseling Center after submitting in PowerSchool.

Rising 9th Students:

  1. Complete your course selection form (distributed in middle schools) at home with parents/guardians and return to school with completed forms.
  2. On a scheduled date at your middle school, you will enter your course requests in PowerSchool with counselor support.
  3. Your course selection form will be collected upon entering course selections at school.

Staple or paperclip these forms BEHIND your Course Request Form (Course Request form on top). They should be turned in together.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Summer School offerings typically are made available in April, and sign ups usually begin in May. This happens AFTER course selection for the upcoming school year. Though students can indicate their summer plans on their course request forms, they must ALSO sign up for summer school and complete payment to officially register.

    The following are the courses traditionally offered in the summer for initial credit through ACCESS virtual learning:

    • Career Preparedness
    • Beginning Kinesiology (PE)
    • US Government (0.5)
    • Economics (0.5)
    • Health (0.5)
    • Credit Recovery is also offered for most failed core courses.

     

    Driver’s Education (0.5) is also offered traditionally offered over the summer at the school (not virtual).

    Your school counselor keeps a checklist of all your earned graduation credits in addition to your high school transcript.  See your assigned counselor for assistance.  We are in the Counseling Center, which is located on the second floor near the entrance to the S hall.  

     

  • Visit the dual enrollment page for more information. The deadline for dual enrollment is May 1st for summer and fall courses, and December 1st for spring courses.

  • Enrollment information is located on the Madison City School's Enrollment Webpage. This page will include a link to the Enrollment Application Link and other important registration information. Once this step is completed and your information is verified, you will be contacted for an appointment with a school counselor.  New student registration for the summer will occur during the month of July.
