Being a member of the Bob Jones High School chess team is a unique blend of individual competition and meaningful service. While most matches are played independently through the Madison City Chess League (MCCL), team members still build a strong sense of community through shared preparation and strategy. Beyond competition, the team offers numerous opportunities to give back by volunteering, especially through coaching and mentoring elementary school chess teams. This experience not only strengthens players’ own skills but also allows them to develop leadership and make a positive impact on younger students.
