BJ Parents and Students,
We are working hard to focus through the last 3 weeks of school. It is important for your student to be at school each day & to finish strong. Advanced Placement (AP) Exams begin Monday and will run for 2 weeks followed by a week of AP late exams. We had a busy week last week with our athletic teams playing in post season competitions in Tennis, Golf, Softball, Baseball, Track & Field, Boys & Girls Soccer, our Art Show, JROTC Awards, CTE Signing Days, and more. It is great to be at a school with so much opportunity for our students!

Our 11th graders receiving their ACT scores by logging in to their ACT student accounts at: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/scores.html . Please encourage your junior to log in and check it out.

Schedule for the next 4 Weeks: 
May 4 - 8: Traditional Schedule all week due to Advanced Placement Exams.
May 11 - 15: Traditional Schedule all week due to Advanced Placement Exams.
May 18 - 22: Mon: Graduation Day/E-Learning Day, Tue: Traditional, 
Wed: Half-Day Final Exams 1 & 2 Blocks, Thur: Half-Day Final Exams 3 & 4 Blocks. 
Fri: Teacher Workday.

Academic Updates

SENIORS and SENIOR PARENTS:
Parents and Seniors, please make sure to look over the Senior Checklist for information about seniors events and graduation.  This is a working document and will be updated as needed.  

Seniors, if your name is often mispronounced please complete the Graduation Name Pronunciation Form where you can upload a recording of your name.  Everyone one wants to make sure your name is said correctly so please help us do that! You must be signed into a MCS account to access the form. 

BJ Choir Concert will take place on Thursday, may 7 at 7pm in our Auditorium as BJ Choir joins with DMS Choir to Sing As One! Come join these talented students!

BJ Girls Soccer had a huge victory over Huntsville in Round 1 Playoffs & advanced to Round 2 in which we hosted and lost to a tough Oak Mountain team. Congratulations to our BJ Girls Soccer team who had a really good season ending in Round 2 Playoffs. I am so proud of our BJ Girls Soccer! 

BJ Boys Soccer traveled to Huntsville for 1st Round Playoffs and decisively walked away with a huge win and advancing to Round 2 Playoffs! Our BJ Boys hosted Vestavia Hills in Round 2 Playoffs in an exciting game that led to 2 overtime periods. BJ Boys scored toward the end of the 2nd OT period, winning the game to advance to the Final Four in State. The only time our BJ Boys Soccer made it to the Final Four was back in 2015. Come cheer for our BJ Boys at Final Four at John Hunt Park (In Huntsville) on Thursday, May 7, at 3pm! If we advance to Finals, we play on Saturday at John Hunt. Go BJ Soccer!

BJ Baseball (27-17)  For 1st round of playoffs, BJ traveled to Vestavia Hills on Friday and split a Double Header and won an exciting Game 3 and the Series on Saturday! Our BJ Boys were victorious over Vestavia Hills who were ranked #1 in state. Our team has advanced to the Elite 8, for the 5th straight season, in which we will host Thompson HS on Friday at 4:30 & 7:00 with a DH and on Saturday at 1pm, if necessary. Come on out to BJ and support our awesome team! Go BJ Baseball!

BJ Softball had outstanding performances in Area Tournament at Austin which included a close 4-3 win over JCHS! BJ Softball finished 2nd in Area Tournament & advance to Regionals! Our Girls will play in Albertville on Monday, May 11 at 9am & 1:45. Our Girls have improved so much since last season and have earned a spot at Regionals! Go BJ! 

BJ Track & Field competed at State! 
BJ Girls finished tied for 7th in 7A State. Kayla Christoper won the State Championship in the Long Jump. Alivua Uretia finished 4th in State in the 400m Dash. Kayla Christopher finished 5th in State in the 100m Dash & she finished 3rd in the State in the 300m Hurdles. Jasmyne Rochelle finished 2nd in State in High Jump & JaKya Smith finished 3rd. 
In BJ Boys, Mailer Wallace finished 5th in State in Javelin. Elijah Wells finished 10th in State in 400m Dash & Aaron Wisswesser finished 11th in Triple Jump. BJ Boys 4x400m Relay finished 5th in State. BJ Boys 4x800m finished 10th in State. Way to go BJ Track & Field!

BJ Girls Golfer, Hanna Crockatt, will be advancing to Sub-State at Hampton Cove Highlands course on Monday!  Go Hanna!


Clubs & Activities

BJ student Mary Duffy was named to First Team All-State in Alabama Girls All State Lacrosse. 

Patriots' Mountain Bike team finished well at Tannehill Iron Works State Park. Malik Hassan placed 4th in JV, Kevin Herring placed 1st, & Malcolm Phillips placed 4th. Way to go!
