I am a graduate of Johnson High School Class of 1985

I have a Bachelors in Biological Sciences/ Minor in Chemistry  UAH 1992

And a Masters in Biological Sciences UAH 1997

I am a participant in Alabama Science in Motion and frequently attend workshops and educational experiences offered by Hudson Alpha and the American Chemical Society in Huntsville.

I have been an AP Reader grading the Free Response portion of the AP Biology exam for the last 14 years.

In recent years I've become trained in Laying the Foundation (a national iniative to increase rigor and critical thinking in English, Math and Science) both as a participant and since  2014 as a trainer.  I spent several weeks in 2017 traveling around the state training chemistry teachers in this exciting program and training AP Chemistry Teachers in Alabama.

I travel around the state and help facilitate AP review session on Saturdays in the spring to help students prepare for the AP exam.

I have completed all the work for my National Board Certification and am waiting nervously until December to see if I pass all my modules.

I started teaching in 1993 at Huntsville High School filling in for a teacher with a broken leg.  Two weeks in I got an offer to go to Grissom High School in Huntsville where I spent 13 years teaching Biology, Chemistry, and AP Biology.

As gas approached $3 a gallon and my children were getting closer to high school age, I decided to come to Bob Jones.  This is my seventh year at Bob Jones where I have taught AP Chemistry and Chemistry.  I am also the Science department chair and King of the Chemistry Lab responsible for ordering, maintaining equipment and general upkeep.

I am an AP reader spending one week every summer grading AP free response (essay) questions.  I've done this now for 14 years and I've learned so much about the AP program from this and it is the best professional development you could have.

I lead Chemistry training for teachers in the state and lead training for AP Chemistry teachers in the state at AP Summer Institutes. There is so much satisfaction helping other teachers!

I do Saturday review sessions for A+ College Ready to help students get ready for the AP Chemistry national exam.
