During my teaching career, I have taught English 9 and 10 as well as Fine Arts, Broadcasting, Advanced Broadcasting, Creative Writing, and Literary Magazine. Currently, I teach Creative Writing, Multimedia Publications, and Multimedia Design.
I serve as the advisor for The Eclectic literary and arts magazine and website.
I also serve as the advisor for Patriot Pages, which is the web-based version of our school newspaper.
I support Poetry Out Loud and rehearse with students interested in competing at regional, state, and national competitions.
I am an A.C.C.E.S.S distance learning teacher, and I teach creative writing and English to high school students across the state through a combination of an online learning environment and videoconferencing.
I am the A+ Credit Recovery facilitator for Bob Jones High School; this progam is offered after school and during the summer.
I am a Radio-Television News Directors' Foundation Teacher Ambassador. I am an advocate for student publications and speak at local, state, and national student publication conferences. I won the national RTNDF Innovative Technology in the Classroom Award, and though I don't believe technology replaces fundamental skills, I recognize its importance as a tool to facilitate understanding and to enhance communication.
