  • Practices will be held at Rainbow Elementary according to the practice schedule on the Calendar.
  • Team Dinner - Friday Sept. 29th after practice at WayBack Burgers.
  • Chess Team Cheers on Varsity Volleyball on Tues. Oct. 3rd at 4 p.m. when BJ hosts the Jets!  Get tickets at the door.


BJHS Chess Club

The Bob Jones High School Chess Club is a student service organization affiliated with the Madison City Chess League (MCCL), a non-profit organization that helps teach kids how to play chess and develop chess skills.  There is no fee to join, but to remain in good standing, Chess Club members must perform 4 service hours per semester or 8 service hours per year.  The service hours must be related to promoting chess in the community.  Additional information can be found under Forms.  Questions can be directed to

Upcoming meetings:

Friday, Sept. 29th at 5 p.m. at Rainbow Elementary prior to Chess Team practice to elect officers

Sunday, Oct. 1st at 3 p.m. - BJ Chess Club Officers' meeting (location TBD)

Club Meetings - 3rd Wednesday morning of the month at 7:40 a.m.- Mr. Mack's room #N110

  • Oct. 18th - First meeting - All students interested in joining should attend.
  • Nov. 15th - Planning for the Chess Club Project for the 2017-18 year.

Recreational Chess Opportunities in Madison

 Kids who want to play chess with other kids from across the city of Madison are invited to Dublin Park on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. when the Madison City Chess League holds its weekly meetings.
