Competition Chess Team

The Bob Jones High School competition chess team is off to a great start.  The team won 1st place at the Queen's Quest in November 2016.  Then the 9th grade team competed for the first time at the National K12 Chess Championship and finished in 3rd place in the nation!  The team will compete next at the Rookie Rally at Blossomwood Elementary at the end of January and the State Scholastic Chess Championship in March. 

 

Congratulations to the Bob Jones 9th grade team that placed 3rd at the National K12 Chess Championship on Dec. 16-18, 2017 in Nashville!

2017 State Scholastic Chess Championship

Bob Jones High School will be the location for the 2017 State Scholastic Chess Championship that will occur on March 11 and 12 (the weekend before spring break).  So, mark your calendars and save the date for the largest scholastic chess tournament of the year.

Recreational Chess Opportunities in Madison

 Kids who want to play chess with other kids from across the city of Madison are invited to Dublin Park on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. when the Madison City Chess League holds its weekly meetings.
