Poetry Out Loud

I am so excited to announce the winners of our Schoolwide Competition for this year. These students will be competing at the Region 5 competition at UAH on December 1, 2017 for a chance to advance to the State competition in February.

The winner of the Recitation Contest is Jessica Sloan, and the first runner-up is Sija Headrick.

The winner of the Original Contest is Sija Headrick, and the first runner-up is Jada Brown.

Look here for updates on these students' progress.

Poetry Out Loud is a performance competition designed to increase students' interaction and appreciation of poetry.  The competition awards cash at the school level and scholarship money at the regional, state, and national levels.  Students may compete in the Anthology Recitation or Original Poetry Recitation categories.  Any student interested should see Mrs. Hadden in Room S201

The competition begins at the classroom level through the English class.  Any student not enrolled in English class in the Fall semester should see Ms. Hadden in Room S201 for information about the competition. Winners at the class level compete in a school-wide competition held in October.  One winner in the recitation category and one winner in the original category will represent Bob Jones at the Regional competition held prior to winter break.
